Job Description Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator or Building Services Manager, performs duties to provide care, cleaning & maintenance of building, furniture & fixtures. Adheres to all OSHA , CDC and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines; Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes and renews floor surfaces; Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets; Washes walls; cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures following either Level 1 or Level 2 clean/sanitize/disinfect guidelines as directed***; Cleans glass and mirrors; Cleans and empties trash receptacles; May remove and hang drapes; Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrance areas; Reports need for equipment repair; Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry and theft of property; Checks in supplies; stocks supply areas; May assist in washing and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots & pans; Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures & drinking fountains; Operates dish machine/pot washer to clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, pans, etc. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in sanitation and safety areas of dining, residential, academic and administrative units; Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form; Ability to work independently or with others; Willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce and community Ability to read and write common vocabulary in sentence structure; Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems; Ability to demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand and/or power tools and equipment; Ability to mix cleaning compounds and follow safety procedures; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Ability to effectively use a 15 foot ladder; An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills. May require valid driver’s license; Completion of a test may be required.
