For information on the company's outstanding benefits, culture, and its talent-first flexible/remote work approach, see below and visit the Role:Reporting to the Head Compounding Pharmacist, the Compounding Pharmacist will be responsible for the oversight and growth of compounding capabilities, as well as acting as a subject matter expert of compounded treatments. You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.Day shift options: Sun-Wed, 7am-5:30pm OR Wed-Sat, 7am-5:30pm. If this shift does not align with your availability, please take a look at the other shifts we are currently hiring for.You Will:Perform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and dispensing of compounded preparationsTrain and evaluate compounding personnelReview and approve materials for use in compoundingOversee use of equipment to compound prescription orders and monitor the compounding environment in conjunction with the maintenance teamMust have familiarity and experience with all necessary pharmacy and compounding equipmentWork closely with R&D teams on the development and scale-up of new compounded formulationsFollow all safety, USP, BOP, and internal guidelines for the preparation of compounded medications.Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure precautions are taken in all compounding activities within the lab, including when working with hazardous chemicals in accordance with USP <795> , <800> and applicable lawsWhen required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)Must have knowledge of all principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795> , <800> , other USP general chapters, and best compounding practicesPerform pharmacist related activities such as patient consultation and error documentationCoordinate with the Pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) for personnel, compliance and regulatory matters.Willingness to complete external training as requiredDevelop and evaluate standard operating procedures for the compounding lab and formulationsYou Have:2+ years of pharmacist experienceBachelor's degree in PharmacyActive Pharmacist License in OhioEffective knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations related to the practice of pharmacyAbility to work flexible shift timesProficiency in Windows based computer systemsMust be able to undergo respirator fit testing - Full beards or a lot of facial hair may prevent a proper seal for the respiratorMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environmentMust be capable of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to complete appropriate dosage forms in a timely mannerMust be a knowledgeable and empathetic leader to in-person pharmacist and technician teamsMust be able to work cross-functionally with remote teamsMust be able to lift at least 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationMust be able to stand for long periods of timePharmacists will work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required.Maintain all security and privacy rules regarding the use and handling of protected health information (PHI) in compliance with federal and state HIPAA regulationsFollow all state and pharmacy regulations and rules as designated by the Ohio State of Pharmacy and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment as mandated by the FDA's rules and regulationsPerform pharmacist duties such as drug utilization reviews, patient counseling, and dispensing activities as neededDispense medications and ensure accurate interpretation, labeling, and product selection of prescriptionsComplete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspectionsSupervise the work results of support personnelProtect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocolsOur Benefits (There Are More But Here Are Some Highlights):Competitive salary & comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & visionConditions of Employment:This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift.
