Juvenile Justice Clinician
Astor Services For Children & Families
Job Description
Job Description
Astor's Roots to Resilience program is seeking a clinician to support youth and young adults ages 12-26 who are at risk of or involved in the juvenile justice system. Using a strengths-based, family-centered approach, this role helps access behavioral health services, strengthen support systems, and create pathways to long-term success.
This is an ideal opportunity for a clinician who is passionate about community engagement and youth advocacy. The clinician will serve as an ambassador for both the Roots to Resilience program and Astor Services as a whole, building relationships throughout the Bronx and increasing awareness of available supports for youth and families.
Requirements:
- Experience working with adolescents, families, and court-involved or high-risk youth preferred.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and community engagement skills.
- Passion for youth advocacy, prevention, and helping young people recognize their strengths and build resilience.
- Self-motivated, adaptable professional who can effectively represent both the program and agency within the community.
- Master's Level Clinician - full licensure preferred.
- Knowledge of DSM diagnoses, behavioral health treatment, and evidence-based interventions - TF-CBT and DBT preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
- Empower youth and families through clinical assessment, treatment, care coordination, and supportive services, including mental health screenings, risk assessments, treatment planning, and short-term therapeutic interventions.
- Connect youth to opportunities for success by building strong partnerships with Probation, OASAS, behavioral health providers, schools, courts, and community organizations throughout the Bronx.
- Promote positive outcomes by monitoring treatment engagement, educational stability, school attendance, and reduced juvenile justice involvement, while providing follow-up support after discharge.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care utilizing approaches while demonstrating competency in DSM diagnoses, mental status examinations, and high-risk client assessment and intervention.
- Collaborate and lead across systems by working closely with multidisciplinary teams and providing consultation to clinicians, community partners, and families to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Roots to Resilience and Astor Services, representing the program with enthusiasm and professionalism in juvenile courts, community events, outreach initiatives, and stakeholder meetings.
- Engage with the community where it matters most, maintaining a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends to support court appearances, outreach activities, and special events.
- Support program excellence through timely documentation, data collection, monthly reporting, and compliance with all contract and regulatory requirements.
What we provide:
- 4 weeks paid vacation annually.
- 13 paid holidays.
- 4 personal days.
- 1 sick day per month, accruable to 150 days.
- Fully paid individual LTD and life insurance.
- Eligible for participation in agency medical and dental plan both individual and family, with small employee contribution.
- New longevity incentives.
- Opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children and families in need.
- Collaboration with a team of dedicated professionals in a supportive and dynamic environment.
- Room for growth and advancement within the organization.
