WHAT YOU’LL DO

Responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of Lean Enterprise system. Supervises and directs machinist activities and process improvement activity in the Tulsa Manufacturing Facility. This is a fast-paced environment, but timeliness and quality of results are never compromised. Must provide a positive response to a variety of challenges and time pressures. Requires quick and decisive decision making to align with established policies and procedures. This position requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them.

This position is considered a safety sensitive position due to "the operation of a motor vehicle, other vehicle (forklift), equipment, machinery or power tools or the repairing, maintaining or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment, machinery or manufacturing process, the malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage”.

• Drives company culture and focuses on fact-based management practices to include team building within department and across departments.
• Supervises and directs all department activity to achieve stated performance goals including safety, quality and on-time delivery.
• Responsible for employees understanding their role within the company and how it relates to the company mission.
• Responsible for personnel activities to include appropriate staffing and disciplinary actions.
• Focuses on building teamwork within home department and with other departments.
• Establishes attainable and stretch goals for the department employees (performance management).
• Supervises and directs all machine shop activity to achieve stated performance goals regarding quality and on-time delivery.
• Focuses on building teamwork within the machine shop.
• Ensures that Company standard practices and procedures are followed.
• Promotes and administers safety awareness on a daily basis. Maintains close relationship with employees to promote effective working relationships.
• Leads the creation of future state value stream maps and the implementation plan for getting from current state to future state.
• Monitors and facilitates all phases of Lean implementation.
• Visibly monitors the status and flow of the value stream daily.
• Makes implementation and continuous improvement a top priority.
• Is able to solve problems and break down barriers
• Understands lean techniques and tools and how to apply them.
• Assists in the creation of performance metrics (scrap, quality, setup times and indirect labor) reporting on improvement targets.
• Supports project teams in Lean activities by educating, coaching and mentoring others on process improvement philosophy, tools and application.
• Defines, plans and executes basic lean improvement activities without external support.

 

YOUR EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

 

• Four year degree or six (6) years of related education and experience in a manufacturing environment (CNC machining experience is required).
• Previous Lead or Supervisory experience would be a plus.
• Formally trained in the principles and methodology of Lean Enterprise.
• Capable of creating change across functional and departmental boundaries.
• A persuasive speaker to both peers and superiors – has natural charisma.
• Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions.
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
• Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
• Able to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of company policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of manufacturing functions, including methods, processing, tooling, work standards, plant layout, and cost controls and reduction.
• Knowledge and skills to develop and implement CNC part programming to effectively support machining and robotic operations and assembly processes.
• Ability to read and comprehend detailed drawings, sketches, notes, and blueprints.
• Knowledge of metric dimensions.
• Able to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Effectively able to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
