We are looking for an experienced Senior HR Specialist – Classification & Compensation to support a public sector organization in Baltimore, Maryland. This opportunity is ideal for an HR specialist who brings deep expertise in job classification, compensation analysis, and position evaluation within a complex workforce environment. The person in this role will contribute to equitable pay practices, informed organizational decisions, and accurate HR data management while collaborating with leaders and internal partners across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate positions and assess role scope to support classification decisions and compensation alignment across the organization.

• Examine salary data, external market trends, and internal benchmarks to help maintain competitive and consistent pay structures.

• Review and refine job documentation, providing guidance on position leveling, title alignment, and compensation recommendations.

• Work closely with HR leadership and departmental stakeholders to support compensation planning and related workforce initiatives.

• Maintain employee, job, and position records within Workday to ensure data accuracy and reporting reliability.

• Produce reports, interpret workforce and compensation data, and present findings that support decision-making and HR planning.

• Contribute to special HR assignments and broader human resources initiatives as business needs evolve.

• Support HR administrative processes while handling sensitive employee and compensation information with a high level of discretion.

• At least 5 years of progressive human resources experience, including substantial work in classification and compensation.
• Strong knowledge of job evaluation methods, salary administration, and compensation program practices.
• Experience using Workday or a comparable HRIS platform to manage position and employee data.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
• Background in broader HR functions such as employee relations, HR administration, onboarding, benefits, or HR systems is valued.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred.
