Job Title Senior Mechanical Project Engineer Job Description Senior Mechanical Project Engineer - Hay level 60 We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer that will support the North American Distribution Team. Vanderlande’s Distribution Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling Systems, Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortationsystems for our customersthroughout North America. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team. Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with and motivate the engineering team. It also involves working closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities, improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, drive, and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders. Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Translate customer drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system Optimize the functionality from as-sold to a working mechanical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Electrical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.) 3D modeling of systems and subsequent clash detection management Associated 2Dcustomer approval and installation layout drawings Perform spatial analysis of clearance envelopes, egress pathways andforkliftvehicular aisles Perform system and component level calculations (Throughput, motor power, belt pull, reactive forces to building structure, etc) Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applications Engineering of non-standard mechanical interfaces Apply safety regulations and ergonomics Specify the mechanical equipment required, including both Vanderlande manufactured and third party purchased items Create a motor manifest with respect to electrical and controls engineering requirements Document all engineering decisions through design plans,complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta office Project document control using arights baseddatabase system Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology Minimumof 8 years ofrelative work experience(or Associate ME/ET with 12 years related experience) Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 25% with occasionalinternational opportunities Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details Willingness to learn Proactive Ability to work autonomously or in a team Motivator and ability to work well with team members Ability to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate action Strong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion (Ownership Culture) Must have the ability to properly prioritize work/activities Possess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutions Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills Ability to drive process improvements Experience in project management or leading teams Ability/Experience using Project Planning & Deliverables Tracking Ability to use AutoCAD 2D & 3D Ability to use AutoDesk Suite of tools (Revit, Navisworks, Vault, BIM360, ACC, etc) Desired Qualifications Knowledge/Experience with OSHA 1910/29 Occupational Safety and Health Standards Knowledge/Experience with International Building Code (IBC) Knowledge/Experience with ANSI B11 Machine Guarding Standards Knowledge/Experience with ASME B20.1 Safety Standards for Conveyors and Related Equipment Knowledge/Experience with ISO 13849-1 Experience in Using Commercially Available Project Management Software such as MS Project or Primavera Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
