Duties

Help

• You will evaluate and conduct special studies of training techniques and lesson plans to ensure risk assessment and safety responsibilities are defined and administered.
• You will provide safety training and oversight of non-tactical operations.
• You will develop lesson plans, support materials, and training schedules.
• You will provide safety consultation and assistance to commanders, organizational safety managers, department heads, and supervisors in the application of Marine Corps safety programs.
• You will assist in the development of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a confidential l security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• You will be required to be qualified to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and be qualified for "Duty in the Field" to include road marches, field exercises and other combat training evolutions.
• This position requires the incumbent to pass a pre-employment physical examination and pass periodic retests as required.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing occupational health and safety programs; conducting hazard assessments and mishap investigations; enforcing safety policies and procedures; implementing safety training programs; and advising on occupational health and safety regulations and practices.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Supporting occupational health and safety programs, supporting hazard assessments and mishap investigations for a safety and occupational health program; preparing or revising safety instructions and guides; advising on occupational health and safety regulations and practices.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11

• Successful completion of a a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or
• Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or
• Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. or
• A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

• Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or
• Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; or
• Successful completion of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled. or
• A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
