Maintenance MechanicThe Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment throughout the plant and facilities. This position ensures all equipment operates efficiently and safely to support production goals. The Maintenance Mechanic also maintains tools, documents repair activities, and follows all maintenance and safety standards in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.Essential Tasks And ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues on production equipment.Perform basic electrical, wiring, and motor repair as needed.Order, replace, and install machine parts to minimize downtime.Repair, install, and maintain safety guards and protective devices on machinery.Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment according to schedule.Perform general facility maintenance, including building and grounds upkeep.Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe, organized condition.Document and report maintenance activities, repairs, and completed projects.Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and SQF/ISO standards.Assist in training and mentoring other maintenance or production staff.Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.Perform additional department duties as assigned.Preferred Education And ExperienceHigh School DiplomaOverall mechanical knowledge of machinery and how to repairOverall knowledge of electrical installationSkillsProficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive systems.Ability to prioritize maintenance requests and manage multiple projects.Strong communication and teamwork skills across departments.Attention to detail and accuracy in maintenance documentation.Commitment to safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.Basic computer literacy for maintenance logs and parts ordering systems.Physical Requirements And EnvironmentProlonged standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling.Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.Manual dexterity and visual acuity to work with small parts and tools.Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical components, and occasional hot or cold temperatures.Work performed primarily on the production floor and maintenance areas.Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.May be required to work weekends, evenings, or on-call shifts for maintenance emergencies.Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.Performance And Behavioral Attributes:Safety And ComplianceFollows all company, OSHA, and lockout/tagout safety standards.Promotes a culture of safety awareness and preventive maintenance.Technical Competence And AccuracyCompletes repairs effectively, ensuring equipment reliability.Documents maintenance activities clearly and accurately.Accountability And OwnershipTakes responsibility for assigned maintenance projects and completion timelines.Maintains a clean and organized workspace.Problem Solving And InitiativeIdentifies root causes of issues and implements effective long-term solutions.Proactively seeks ways to improve machine performance and uptime.Teamwork And CommunicationCollaborates with production and supervisory staff to coordinate repairs and priorities.Communicates clearly regarding maintenance schedules and progress.Reliability And ProfessionalismDemonstrates consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability.Maintains a professional demeanor under pressure and during downtime events.Continuous ImprovementParticipates in training and development to enhance technical skills.Contributes to ongoing improvements in safety, maintenance efficiency, and reliability.At-Will Employment: This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
