Assistant Manager, OTB-ExAmerica's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.Job Summary: Assists in the management of the daily operations of an Off Track Betting Parlor with a small to medium level of revenue and a small to medium number of non-exempt employees. This position is responsible for specific departments such as food services, video poker and pari-mutuels. This will include customer relations, supervision of staff and money management. The incumbent in this job may be in training for an initial period to learn the video poker and horse racing industry.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Handles all aspects of customer relationsDirects, schedules and supervises all hourly staffEnsures on a daily basis that all equipment within the facility is in working order and arranges repair and/or preventive maintenancePosts daily programs and results (video poker and pari-mutuels)Ensures compliance of all operational procedures and personnel policiesAssists in executing marketing promotions at the facilityAccurately counts, balances and prepares shipments of large amounts of cashInterfaces with facility manager promoting a harmonious relationshipAssists with facility safety and security; food safety and emergency proceduresRecruits for hourly positions and recommends hiring of qualified candidatesTrains, coaches and motivates hourly staff and recommends promotion, transfer, firing or other decisions that affect the terms and conditions of employmentRequired Skills And Abilities:Demonstrates fluent/effective English communication skills (oral and written)Works well with a team, demonstrate sensitivity and empathy toward othersWorks in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision (possesses stamina and endurance)Follows rules, guidelines, personnel policies, operational procedures and directionsDemonstrates mastery of basic math and principles of accountingDemonstrates analytical reasoning, creative problem solving and problem sensitivityEducation And Experience:Bachelor's degree in business or marketing preferredOne to two years of work experience displaying increasing responsibilityProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteEquivalent supervisory or management work experience of one to three yearsPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or mover up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to loud.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.
