Compensation: $84000 – $150,000 / year

Job Summary

Dann’s Discount Auto Sales is seeking a results-driven Service Manager to oversee our shop operations. The ideal candidate will focus on maximizing technician proficiency, streamlining our internal reconditioning process, and driving service sales through strategic product offerings. You will be responsible for ensuring that our pre-owned inventory is retail-ready quickly and cost-effectively while maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings.

Core Responsibilities

• Operational Efficiency: Manage shop workflow and technician dispatching to improve proficiency (hours billed vs. hours worked).

• Reconditioning Management: Lead the internal safety inspection and reconditioning process using Rapid Recon software to reduce "days-to-line."

• Sales Leadership: Drive revenue by training staff on the benefits of BG and Valvoline products and maximizing upsell opportunities on every repair order.

• Warranty Administration: Oversee extended warranty claims (65% attachment rate on sales) and maintain strong relationships with third-party adjusters.

• Customer Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for service customers, expertly navigating the unique expectations of used car buyers and resolving billing/repair concerns.

• Team Development: Recruit, train, and hold service writers and technicians accountable for performance and organization.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of Automotive Service Management experience (Independent or Dealership).

• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical repairs, labor times, and shop logistics.

• Software Proficiency: Experience with reconditioning software (Rapid Recon preferred) and standard DMS systems.

• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and the ability to explain technical repairs to non-technical customers.

• Sales Ability: Proven track record of increasing Effective Labor Rate (ELR) and Gross Profit per RO.
