Title: Accessibility Specialist Agency: J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Location: Henrico - 087 FLSA: Nonexempt Hiring Range: Salary commensurate with experience. Hiring range is $45,000-$50,500. Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Job Description Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Accessibility Specialist provides comprehensive support to students with disabilities by providing information, coordinating and implementing appropriate accommodations, and offering academic guidance to promote student success. This position works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to assess individual needs, facilitate access to academic programs and services, and ensure an inclusive and accessible educational environment. The Accessibility Specialist also provides ongoing support and guidance to students regarding available resources, accommodations, and strategies for achieving their academic goals. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of academic requirements, career opportunities, qualifications, and college operations. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal disability laws and statutes. Working knowledge of the accommodation process and adaptive software and hardware used in providing accommodations. Demonstrated ability to advise students and provide a high level of customer service to students, faculty, and staff. Demonstrated ability to interpret and execute policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to establish positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators. Experience utilizing personal computers and a variety of current software programs, including Accommodate. Additional Considerations Degree from an accredited college or university with course work in counseling or a related field.
