Speech and Language Pathologist ( 2 Positions) 26/27 SY - JOB# 4356 - EXTENDED JobID: 4356 Position Type: Student Support Services/ Speech and Language Pathologist Date Posted: 5/29/2026 Location: Exceptional Student Education Closing Date: 07/06/2026 Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Speech/Language Pathology/Communication Disorders from an accredited educational institution (Acceptance into a graduate program in same is required prior to expiration of temporary certificate) Certification in Speech/Language Pathology by the State of Florida and/or licensure in Speech/Language Pathology by the State of Florida, Department of Professional Regulations Physical requirements to perform essential functions and tasks which may include exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force as frequently as necessary; lifting, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, pulling, and pushing, if required Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening Additional Desired Qualifications None at this time Primary Performance Responsibilities Establishes long and short range plans based on student needs and consistent with district and state requirements Selects materials to support learning objectives and meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and special needs Plans a therapy program for eligible students, including implementation and annual review of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Participates in school level child study teams as appropriate Provides statistical information for program planning, such as, FTE information, severity rating data, end of year reports, matriculation reports, screening results, and other relevant data Schedules students for speech/language impaired program taking into account the total educational setting Orders materials and supplies for program implementation Prepares and maintains audit files on all speech/language impaired students Maintains a positive, organized, and safe learning environment Manages time efficiently Manages materials and equipment effectively Establishes and maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and instruments used to diagnose speech/language impairments Identifies students who have speech and/or language impairments through screening and/or diagnostic assessments Determines eligibility for speech/language impaired program Analyzes/interprets results of screening or diagnostic assessment Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of assigned area (speech/language pathology) Applies principles of learning and effective teaching Uses appropriate materials, technology, and resources to help meet student's needs Uses strategies appropriate for working with students from diverse backgrounds Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively involved in the learning process Recognizes overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention referral, or reporting action Assists audiologist in conducting hearing screening and medical follow-up for referred students Consults with parents, teachers, principals, and others as appropriate, concerning general guidelines of speech and language development and specifically students enrolled in the program Uses effective, positive intercommunications skills Interprets educational policies, programs, and procedures relative to the speech/language program Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community Provides information and/or inservice to teachers, administrators, and other school personnel Engages in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills Conducts a personal assessment, periodically, to determine professional development needs Acts in a professional and ethical manner and adheres, at all times, to the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct Perform and fulfills professional responsibilities Performs other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position Additional Duties Other duties as assigned by supervising administrator TERM Length of contract and number of hours worked are determined by specific allocation as approved annually during planning-budgeting process

According to the School Board of Highlands County Instructional Salary Schedule (Note: Bachelor's level Speech Language Impaired teachers will be eligible for a Temporary Educator's Certificate and paid as an Associate Teacher; upon meeting requirements for Professional Educator's Certificate or full state licensure, index will be applied to base salary.)NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
