Remote Staff Software Engineer

We're assisting an edtech startup with their search for a Staff Software Engineer. Their product is an AI-powered literacy/reading instruction platform for elementary educators. They are a remote company and open to candidates from anywhere in the United States. What you'll be doing: Building and iterating on the core product suite — prototyping, refining, and shipping new AI-powered literacy tools rapidly Taking complex, cross-cutting features from prototype to production with thoughtful architecture and security decisions Improving engineering systems and practices while maintaining a high-quality, easy-to-reason-about codebase at scale Communicating proactively with the small remote team to ensure alignment and coherence as you ship features end-to-end What you'll bring: 5+ years of experience as a senior SWE with full- ​ stack experience 0- ​ to- ​ 1 building experience ; ​ shipped end- ​ to- ​ end features and carried projects from idea to production readiness Proficiency in TypeScript or Next. ​ js Owned substantial parts of a codebase, ​ can handle large- ​ scale projects without a detailed roadmap High- ​ agency; ​ can make meaningful progress without a detailed roadmap Mission- ​ driven; ​ passionate about improve literacy nationwide Familiar with Vercel deployment and serverless architecture Familiar with modern web frameworks Nice to have: Ed- ​ tech experience, ​ professional or academic; ​ looking for mission- ​ driven candidates
