Insurance Technician or Insurance Analyst

Location: Clearwater, FL (400 South Fort Harrison Ave)

Schedule: Monday through Friday – 8:00am to 5pm with one hour for lunch

Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2026. Candidates should be available to begin employment on or around this date.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Professional to join our team as either an Insurance Technician or Insurance Analyst, depending on your level of experience.

If you are entering industry or bringing foundational experience, the Technician role focuses on essential data entry, vendor compliance and operational workflows. If you possess advanced analytical skills and industry expertise, the Analyst role empowers you to evaluate risk exposures, optimize insurance program delivery, and secure vendor compliance across all County agreements.

What Would You Do?

Insurance Technician

• Provides administrative and technical support for Risk Management programs, operations, and special projects.
• Assists with reviewing insurance certificates, collecting renewal data, and conducting preliminary reviews of contracts for insurance requirements and risk transfer provisions.
• Maintains records related to insurance policies, contracts, certificates, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports updates to risk management policies, procedures, and automated business processes.
• Administers and maintains the Risk Management Information System (RMIS), including data entry, reporting, testing, troubleshooting, and user support.
• Serves as a point of contact for RMIS users, assisting with system issues and coordinating resolutions.
• Prepares reports, tracks data, and performs routine analysis to support departmental operations and decision-making.
• Coordinates administrative functions including contract routing, Granicus agreement setup, P-Card tracking and audits, and document management.
• Assists with budget preparation, audit activities, and insurance renewal processes.
• Participate in meetings, training, and cross-functional projects related to risk management programs and services.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Insurance Analyst

• Prepares applications from data collected by for placement of renewal and new insurance coverage;
• Analyzes exposure, rating, and loss history data and coordinates information for brokers and insurance companies;
• Manages policy administration including binders, reviewing invoices, endorsements, renewals, and audits;
• Reviews and evaluates all County liability insurance policies and coordinates necessary modifications as required;
• Provides technical expertise and guidance to County agencies on property and liability insurance;
• Reviews and monitors contracts, recommendations, and negotiations regarding insurance requirements for contractual transfer;
• Consults with legal representatives, representatives of the insurance industry, and regulatory agencies in connection with preparation and award of County contracts with vendors and parties;
• Performs contract reviews and monitors or evaluates appropriate insurance certificates for vendors doing business with the County, based on scope of work or discussion with project manager;
• Maintains communication with County departments and Appointing Authorities and discusses risks associated with contracts and exposures;
• Analyzes data for Annual Policy Audits before submittal to carrier;
• Attends departmental meetings in regard to insurance matters;
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.

What Do You Need to Have?

Education: Degree with major course work in risk management, finance, public administration, business administration, or related field.

Insurance Technician (Salary Range: $22.01 - $35.21 per hour):

· Four (4) years of experience risk management and/or commercial insurance customer service technical support in an automated data systems environment, or;

· An Associate's degree as described above, and at least two (2) years of experience as described above, or;

· An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

· Certified Customer Service Representative, CISR or equivalent designations.

Insurance Analyst (Salary Range: $25.12 - $40.18 per hour):

· Six (6) years of experience in property and casualty insurance (P&C) policy analysis, underwriting, policy administration, for multiple types of commercial lines insurance coverage, or;

· An Associate's degree as described above, and at least four (4) years of experience as described above, or;

· An Bachelor's degree as described above, and at least two (2) years of experience as described above, or;

· An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

· Applicants must have achieved or obtain Insurance Industry Designation or License required for each position such as Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Association in Insurance (AINS), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or General Lines Agent License within one (1) year of hire.

Additional Requirements:

• Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including mandatory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
