Full Time - Day/Midnight Swing Shift Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the Birth Center while functioning as the focal communications source at the Birth Center nursing station. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists nursing staff with patient care. Provides assistance in the delivery room to nurses and physicians. Takes vital signs, feeds infants, gives newborn baths, changes bed linen and assists patients in ambulation as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Processes orders, completes necessary forms and notifies consultants
• File test results in patient charts
• Processes patient charges

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency in medical terminology
• Knowledge of keyboard/computer
• BLS within 3 months of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within six months

Preferred:

• Previous experience or training as Unit Clerk
• Previous work experience as OB Technician/Nurse Aide
