Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Locums - Bakersfield, California, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Opening

Start Date: ASAPAssignment Length: Ongoing Need

Schedule & Shift Details:

• 24-hour shifts
• 7:00am-7:00am
• Approximately 10 shifts per month
• One FTE needed

Practice Setting:

• Hospital-based coverage with some clinic responsibilities
• Duties include:
  • Office hours
  • Hospital rounds
  • Heart team meetings
  • Collaboration with APPs
  • Surgical procedures

Required Procedures:

• CABG
• Valve surgery
• Aortic aneurysm repair
• TAVR
• Pleurodesis
• Decortication
• Pulmonary resection
• Pericardial window
• Tracheostomy
• Mediastinoscopy

Facility & Support Details:

• Trauma Level III facility
• Average ICU census per provider: 2-3 patients daily
• Average admissions per provider: 1-2 daily
• Average callback volume: 2 per 24-hour shift
• APP support available with 2 APPs onsite
• PA available for vein harvesting
• No APP supervision responsibilities

Support Staff Includes:

• Medical office staff
• Perfusionists
• Nurses
• Anesthesiologists

Reason for Coverage:

• Retirement of current surgeon

EMR: Cerner

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery - Required
• Active California license - Required
• ACLS - Required
• BLS - Required
• DEA - Required
• Clean malpractice/background history - Highly Preferred
