Value Air is looking for a Commercial HVAC Lead Technician to take ownership of our commercial accounts — leading large installation projects and running complex commercial service and repair work independently. We already have technicians who are comfortable handling commercial work; what we're missing is a lead — someone who steps up to take charge of the bigger, more complex commercial jobs and installs, and who the rest of the team can look to for direction on-site. This role is built for a technician who's done more than routine maintenance: someone who can scope a job, lead a crew through a full commercial install, and be trusted to make the right call without hand-holding. You'll also have the range to step into residential work when needed, but the core of this role is commercial leadership.

$2,500 sign-on bonus for experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial HVAC installation projects from scope to completion, including rooftop units (RTUs), package units, and light commercial refrigeration systems.
• Run complex commercial service, repair, and retrofit jobs independently, including on multi-unit or larger-scale properties.
• Coordinate and direct other technicians or crew members on larger install and project jobs.
• Prepare accurate estimates and scopes of work for commercial installs, replacements, and system upgrades.
• Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems as needed, including air conditioning units, water source heat pumps, mini splits, furnaces, and packaged units.
• Use tools such as multimeters, refrigerant gauges/probes, and leak detectors to diagnose electrical and refrigerant system issues, and power tools to perform repairs, brazing, or modifications.
• Maintain detailed service records, schematics documentation, and customer/client reports.
• Identify system deficiencies and confidently present repair, replacement, or upgrade options to property/facility managers.
• Build strong relationships with commercial property/facility contacts and residential customers alike.

Operations & Safety

• Maintain a clean driving record.
• Operate company vehicle safely and adhere to all traffic laws during service calls.
• Follow all company safety policies and industry compliance standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of commercial HVAC experience, including hands-on leadership of installation projects
• Proven ability to run a commercial job site independently — scoping, sequencing, and completing work with minimal oversight
• Strong working knowledge of rooftop units, packaged units, and commercial refrigeration systems
• Ability to accurately scope and estimate commercial repair, replacement, and installation costs
• Experience directing or mentoring other technicians on larger jobs
• EPA Universal Certification required
• Ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints and schematics
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Strong communication skills for working directly with property/facility managers
• ServiceTitan experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs
• Comfortable working on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, and at heights
• Ability to work in varying outdoor/indoor temperatures and confined spaces
