Physical Therapist Assistant

$5,000 Welcome Bonus (FT) The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This is a professional position with the primary responsibility of direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Additional duties of an administrative nature are to be performed as assigned. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the assistant is at all times responsible to follow all state‐specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in‑home care, to follow the treatment set only as defined by the supervising Physical Therapist; to perform only those procedures that the assistant is qualified and trained to perform and to make all recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist. Responsibilities Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re‑education, gait training, functional activities, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training according to the plan of care. Observe, record, and report to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician the patient’s response to treatment and changes in the patient’s condition. Instruct families, caregivers, and other health‑care team members in therapeutic activities they can participate in to assist the patient. Visit patients according to the plan of treatment and complete a daily note for each visit. Participate in developing the plan of treatment in communication with the supervising Physical Therapist. Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice in the provision of services to all patients. Report to the Physical Therapist information regarding the patient’s progress, complications, and/or response to treatment. Assist the Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe and effective evaluation and care of patients. Qualifications Possess a degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution. Hold a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the assigned state. Capable of taking direction from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety. Able to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and direction.
