Work Shift Night (Full-time/Weekend/Nights) in United States of America. Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multi‑problem situations, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management and significant independent decision‑making. In addition to patient care, the RT II provides patient/family education, coordinates activities, develops staff, and engages in professional development. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provides customer service through completion of patient care, documentation, and education. Promotes a team spirit and positive work environment. Provides a supportive environment for students and staff. Performs patient assessment and therapy planning. Collaborates with the healthcare team to plan patient care. Verifies orders and administers aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy. Manages ventilators, weans, interprets waveform graphics, and performs airway management, including intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care. Performs arterial blood gas sampling and analysis. Educates patients and mentors/precepts new employees, students, and peers. Assists with invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Promotes accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging. Advocates for medication safety, patient safety, and evidence‑based practice. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and reviews updated DPPs. Completes other duties as assigned. Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy – Preferred. Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑III – Basic Life Support Instructor. ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS Instructor. PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support or ARC‑PALS – American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS‑I – PALS Instructor. NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program or ARC‑NALS – American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support or NRP‑I – NRP Instructor or NRP‑P – NRP Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days. NBRC‑RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist. RCP – Respiratory Care Professional. Required Minimum Experience 0‑2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care. Required Minimum Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals. Computer skills, including familiarity with databases.
