Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO)At ServisFirst, Our Name is Our Mission.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. An MLO's network may consist of real estate professionals, builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources. The MLO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, complying with all federal and state compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements. It is the policy of ServisFirst Bank to comply with the interagency rules implementing the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008, generally known as the SAFE Act. All employees meeting the definition of MLO must be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).The incumbent will:Assist client in determining the proper loan programComplete mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwritingProvide required initial disclosures within the given time frame set by complianceEstablish a detailed marketing/business plan which includes names of potential and existing loan customers, realtors, builders and developers; include frequency of contact in the planPromote and cross-sell other products and services as appropriate to client requirementsConduct networking activities such as community events, attending local Chambers of Commerce meetings, developing relationships with centers of influence and entertaining clients/prospects to enhance relationships and create new salesEvaluate loan requests, analyze financial data and determine qualification of collateral and client credit historyStructure loans to comply with acceptable lending practices and federal and state regulationsMaintain contact with client throughout the loan processResponsible for being familiar with all compliance regulations and policies that are applicable to this position and follow and ensure compliance with these regulations and policiesNote: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable otherwise qualified associates/applicants with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Note: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferredTwo (2) years of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage productionPrevious experience using automated underwriting technology preferredBasic knowledge of bank operations and productsFHA/VA experience requiredKnowledge of federal and state regulations regarding lending and related consumer disclosure requirementsExcellent knowledge of agency guidelinesEffective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions, understand procedures and write correspondenceProficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and ExcelExcellent customer service and time management skillsAbility to multitask, as shown in previous experience as a processor completing tasks under time constraintsGood organizational skills and ability to develop basic understanding of underwriting guidelinesGood data entry/keyboarding and math skillsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSThe physical requirements and environmental conditions of this position consist primarily of:Sustained standing and sittingFrequent use of PC, including typing or sustained attention to monitorFrequent typing using a keyboard and/or calculatorOccasional lifting of basic office files or equipment up to 20 lbsNormal office environment with comfortable internal temperatures and low level noiseEOE/AA
