System AdministratorThis position will work side-by-side with our CTO, serve as the trusted liaison to outside support vendors and managed service providers (MSP), and play a hands-on role in our IT transformation journey. If you love variety, enjoy problem solving, and get energized by learning new technologies, you'll feel right at home here.Position BasicsLocation: On-site in Syracuse, NYPay: $80,000 to $90,000 per year dependent on experienceEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesBe the primary point of contact with our outside support vendors and MSP, ensuring issues are triaged quickly, communication is clear and service levels are consistently met.Monitor & maintain our enterprise systems in close collaboration with the CTO and our vendor partners, keeping performance, availability and security top of mind.Provide on-site technical support for situations where a physical presence makes all the difference—from hardware deployments and facility moves to production troubleshooting.Partner with CTO on IT transformation initiatives, contributing your perspective and execution skills to projects that modernize how we operate.Learn quickly and apply what you learn. Our technology stack evolves with the business, and you'll be expected to pick up new platforms, tools and practices and put them to work.Document, improve and share. Help build the knowledge base and processes that keep up resilient while we scale.Key Skills & AbilitiesComfortable deploying and troubleshooting desktop, workstation, and production-floor equipment; provides user support in office and production environmentsProactive and ownership-driven, with strong problem-solving and follow-throughCollaborative communicator with experience working across departments and with vendors and service providersCuriosity about technology and a demonstrated ability to rapidly apply new tools, systems and conceptsAble to manage multiple priorities effectivelyStrong background in Microsoft desktop and server operating systems and 365 applicationsFamiliarity with backup and restore methodologyExperience with Linux server operating systems and their managementSignificant knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP and VPNsFamiliarity with web services and e-commerce technology supportAble to navigate server room/data center and understand how systems and equipment connect and relate to one anotherEducationBachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related fieldAn equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience will be given strong considerationExperienceA minimum of 3 years administrating enterprise systems in a business environment, including networking, servers, end-user devices, identity and common business applications
