Senior Field Service Technician

As a Senior Field Service Technician in the Specialized Field Services department, you will play a pivotal role in testing, maintaining, and repairing a wide array of electrical equipment, including low and medium-voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and related components. Your expertise will support both shop operations and in‑field service, balancing technical execution with leadership responsibilities to ensure seamless project delivery. Responsibilities Provide technical capabilities for testing relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control equipment, and related switchgear in the field, including synch checks and point‑to‑point diagnostics. Perform and lead a crew in the field for testing, maintenance, or repair of breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control, and associated equipment. Ensure proper preparation and documentation for site projects. Help evaluate department talent base, identify training needs, and recommend action plans for meeting performance expectations. Identify and secure equipment needs for shop and field operations. Provide daily site summaries for work in coordination with the assigned project manager. Provide weekly production status reports to project management, operations managers, and Service Assistant. Maintain an understanding of the technical side of the company's core business needs. Attend and contribute to project kickoff meetings. Support budget adherence on projects. Continuously instruct and train others. Support the sales effort by assisting with labor estimates and job walks when necessary. Remain current on all safety and technical training. Qualifications 3‑5 years of related experience in power plants, industrial services, primary power distribution, and related protection and control schemes. Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems experience. Licensed and certified: NETA 2, 3, or 4 preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent. Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications. Ability to perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors. Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English. Strong interpersonal, communication, business acumen, and management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
