Job Summary

Join a dedicated nursing team in a 42-bed Medical Intermediate Care Unit (Daly 6B) in Springfield, Massachusetts. This dynamic unit is equally divided between medical-telemetry and medical step-down patients, offering a diverse and challenging environment for experienced Registered Nurses.

You will provide comprehensive care to a varied patient population, including those with conditions such as pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, DKA, HHS, ETOH withdrawal, GIB, sepsis, PE, UTI, and respiratory failure. The role requires adaptability, as nurses work across both the medical-telemetry and intermediate care sides of the unit, with expected patient ratios of 1:3 in IMC and 1:6 in medical settings.

This position is ideal for a skilled RN seeking to apply their expertise in a fast-paced setting, managing complex cases and utilizing advanced clinical skills. The ability to float to other units as needed is also a component of this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for a diverse medical-telemetry and intermediate care patient population.
• Manage patients with complex conditions including PNA, COPD exacerbation, DKA, HHS, ETOH withdrawal, GIB, Sepsis, PE, UTI, and respiratory failure.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring specialized interventions such as tracheostomy care, ventilator management, high-flow nasal cannula, cardiac drips, BiPAP, and continuous telemetry.
• Maintain expected patient ratios of 1:3 in Intermediate Care and 1:6 in Medical settings.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Float to other units as needed to support hospital operations and patient care demands.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in an Intermediate Care (IMC) or Medical-Telemetry setting.
• Demonstrated experience with tracheostomy care, ventilator management, high-flow nasal cannula, cardiac drips, BiPAP, and telemetry monitoring.
• Ability to work effectively with patient ratios of 1:3 (IMC) and 1:6 (Medical).
• Candidates must reside outside a 90-mile radius from the facility.
