Registered Nurse IAs a Registered Nurse (RN), you're the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. You make a positive difference every single day in the lives of our patients, their family members and visitors – going above and beyond to meet their needs with courtesy, kindness, respect and compassion.The Inpatient Orthopedic Unit (3800) is a 16-bed, newly renovated unit specializing in joint replacements, spinal surgeries, upper extremity procedures, general surgeries, and orthopedic trauma. RNs on 3800 provide direct bedside care, patient education, pain management, post-op recovery support, and discharge planning. The unit also operates as a Virtual Nursing Unit, with RNs committing to one virtual care shift per week as part of their schedule.Responsibilities:Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical carePerforms initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate dataCommunicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary teamDevelops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goalsComplies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentationRevises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriatelyCompletes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United StatesCompliance:Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per yearCompletes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely mannerMaintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationRequired Qualifications:Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing requiredRegistered Nurse license in New York StateBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferredAt least 6 months experience preferredEducation:AS: Nursing (Required)Licenses / Certifications:BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of ProfessionsPhysical Requirements:Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation.
