Per Diem Veterinarian

Position Description The City of Fresno seeks a veterinarian to support the Fresno Animal Center. The role will increase spay and neuter surgical capacity and provide medical care to homeless pets, working closely with the staff veterinarian and following the City Manager’s vision for the veterinary programs. Responsibilities Perform surgical and medical care for a wide range of animals, including spay and neuter procedures. Assist the staff veterinarian and provide critical relief in the animal center. Apply California state, federal, and municipal animal health laws and regulations to the care of impounded animals. Qualifications Valid license to practice veterinary medicine issued by the State of California Veterinary Medical Board. Proficient knowledge of veterinary treatment, prevention, control, and surgical procedures. In‑person veterinary license within six (6) months of appointment for candidates licensed in another state. Possession of a valid California driver’s license within sixty (60) days of appointment. Compensation and Benefits The position offers a flat rate of $1,000 per shift and is a City of Fresno employee position paid via W-2 payroll. It is not a contract role; there is no 1099 arrangement.
