As a Senior Operations Manager at one of our first robotics sortable buildings in North Carolina located in beautiful Charlotte, NC, you'll be at the helm of a large-scale operation that delivers for millions of Amazon customers every day. What You'll Do - Own the operation - Take full accountability for budgetary performance, people development, and operational excellence across your functional area (Inbound or Outbound). - Lead and develop leaders - Manage, coach, and mentor a team of Operations and Area Managers, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable while building the next generation of Amazon leaders. - Drive continuous improvement - Champion Lean initiatives, process innovations, and quality programs that push your team and the FC to exceed business goals. - Deliver a world-class customer experience - Ensure safety, quality, and performance standards are met or exceeded every single day. - Collaborate cross-functionally - Partner with HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and peer leaders to secure resources, share best practices, and drive site-wide success. - Cultivate ideas - Source and nurture innovative ideas from your team, translating them into actionable improvement plans that raise the bar across the network. - Share best practices - Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the broader network. Additional Job Elements to this hands-on Leadership Role: - Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each - Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head - Walking in the FC and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length - Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily - Ability to work in construction /distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air-conditioned - Able to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation) Fun Facts about this location: - Consistently in the top 10 in the world for units shipped in any given day. - Has 4 Amazon Robotics (AR) storage floors, with a total of around 80,000 pods and 20,000 drives split amongst the 4 floors! - Warehouse footprint is 855,000 sq ft. - Tons of outdoor activities - raft, kayak, mountain bike, etc. - Over 300 days of sunshine each year! Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience - Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays - 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment - Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques - Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination Preferred Qualifications - Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations - Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation - Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related field. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
