Research Scientist

Harvey is a secure AI platform for professionals in law, tax, and finance that augments productivity and automates complex workflows. Role We are looking for a Research Engineer who can help develop and improve our large‑scale search and retrieval systems. Develop infrastructure for low‑latency search and retrieval systems and deal with hard engineering constraints like latency and expensive model inference. Create, index, and maintain large public and private datasets comprised of millions of complex documents. Research and develop novel search and retrieval techniques that combine traditional search, embeddings, and LLMs. Collaborate with researchers to train models and develop agentic workflows that leverage our in‑house retrieval algorithms. … and more. Qualifications Evidence of exceptional ML engineering ability. Publications in top AI conferences. Experience at elite AI research labs (OpenAI, Google Brain, DeepMind). Experience working in complex and high‑stakes ML domains (self‑driving cars, search, ads, quant finance). Experience with LLMs or legal is not required. Experience 5+ years experience in ML engineering and/or research. At least one year of working experience post‑PhD. PhD not required. Google level would be L5‑L6: Senior to Staff. Compensation The expected range of compensation for this role is between $190,000 and $265,000. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our equity plan.
