Occupational Therapist

Community Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide patient-centered, evidence-based occupational therapy services to patients across the lifespan in a dynamic hospital environment that includes emergency care, surgery, pediatrics, and rehabilitation. Working as an integral member of an interdisciplinary care team, you will help patients restore function, promote independence, and improve their overall quality of life.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess physical, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities, as well as functional performance in activities of daily living. You will develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient goals, clinical findings, and best-practice guidelines. Interventions may include therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, ADL retraining, cognitive and perceptual rehabilitation, functional mobility training, splinting and positioning, and recommendations for assistive devices or adaptive equipment. You will regularly reassess patient progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and participate in discharge planning to ensure safe transitions of care.

You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate and optimize patient care. Education of patients and their families will be a key component of your work, including instruction in home exercise programs, safety strategies, energy conservation, joint protection, and techniques to maximize independence at home, school, and in the community. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record is required to support quality care, regulatory compliance, and effective communication among team members.
