Lead Janitor / Lead Custodian – Janitorial & Commercial Cleaning Services

Location: The Dalles, OR
Pay: $27.87 per hour ($22.52/hour base rate + $5.35/hour fringe rate)
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Tuesday and Friday, approximately 10–12 hours per week, 8:00 AM until completion

Lead Janitor / Lead Custodian – The Dalles, Oregon

Community Access Services (CAS) is hiring a dependable and motivated Lead Janitor / Lead Custodian to join our team in The Dalles, Oregon. This is a part-time opportunity for an individual with experience in janitorial services, custodial services, commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and professional work environments.

The Lead Janitor will perform hands-on commercial cleaning and custodial duties while providing day-to-day leadership, training, and direction for two janitorial crew members. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-conscious, able to work independently, and comfortable leading a small team.

What You'll Do

• Lead, train, coach, and provide direction to janitorial crew members.
• Perform hands-on commercial janitorial and custodial cleaning duties.
• Complete routine cleaning and sanitation tasks according to established schedules and quality standards.
• Follow contract specifications, cleaning procedures, and customer requirements.
• Ensure assigned cleaning work is completed accurately, efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
• Operate commercial janitorial and custodial equipment and cleaning tools.
• Drive company janitorial vehicles to transport employees, cleaning supplies, and equipment between work sites.
• Monitor cleaning products, supplies, and equipment and report shortages to the Program Manager.
• Identify and promptly report damaged, defective, or malfunctioning cleaning equipment.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and other scheduled meetings.
• Follow OSHA safety guidelines, Community Access Services safety requirements, company policies, and applicable workplace regulations.
• Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and other individuals as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous janitorial, custodial, commercial cleaning, or facilities maintenance experience preferred 
• Leadership or team-lead experience is a plus, but we will consider candidates with strong transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a national criminal background check.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, cleaning procedures, equipment operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and other workplace documents.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Strong communication, organization, dependability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and provide direction to other team members.
• Valid driver's license and ability to safely drive company vehicles as required.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of commercial janitorial and custodial work, with reasonable accommodation when applicable.
• Real ID or Passport is required to gain access to work sites.
