Main Line Service Technician

Summary Responsible for identifying necessary vehicle service and performing the repair, service, and/or maintenance work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Examines customer vehicles. Identifies necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance. Estimates cost of repairs. Performs vehicle repairs and maintenance. Documents services performed. Performs services efficiently and according to dealership guidelines. Follows dealership and manufacturer service guidelines. Requests necessary parts. Effectively utilizes available technologies to enhance customer experience. Maintains CSI at or above company standards. Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area. Participates in required training. Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system. Follows safeguard rules and regulations. Demonstrates company’s core values. Complies with company policies and procedures. Observes all Federal, State, Local and company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education : GED, high school diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctorate degree in any field of study. Field of Study/Work Experience : Automotive (primary) with knowledge of automotive parts and systems; experience in accounting, business, human resources, information technology is also acceptable. Experience : 3‑5 years of automotive service experience (minimum). Knowledge and Skills : Thorough knowledge of automotive parts and systems; demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge; technical training or commensurate technical experience required. Certificates and Licenses : Valid driver’s license; certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer; state inspection/emissions license; completion of required manufacturer fundamental training and/or NAPA training; meeting or exceeding manufacturer requirements for ASE tests; completion of manufacturer training to perform warranty repairs/recalls, PDI’s, maintenance, and minor repairs. Computer Skills : Basic computer skills to utilize timekeeping system; ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system. Communication Skills : Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel. Attendance Expectations : Regular and predictable attendance required; scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Physical Demands : Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; perform duties requiring talking, hearing, standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Environment Demands : Primary work in the service area; exposure to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service conditions; interaction with customers, service advisors, and service manager.
