Job Summary

Under supervision of an assigned supervisor, to provide basic health support and assists the
school nurse by administering first aid, managing student health records, monitoring for illness, and helping with routine health screenings; to provide a health-related liaison between school and home; to provide a variety of supportive tasks for the teacher; and to do related work as required.


This is a 6 hour a day position shared between Indian Valley Elementary and Walnut Heights Elementary.


EXPERIENCE:
• Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting; and
• Prior experience in a medical or caregiving setting, such as a health assistant or personal care technician, is highly desirable
• Experience working with physically handicapped children is highly desirable.
EDUCATION:
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, preferably supplemented by courses in child care, psychology or guidance; and
• Current certification in first aid and certification as a nursing assistant (C.N.A.) preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain and renew Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification.
