Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Location: Onsite in Fort Collins, CO

Pay: $32-48 per hour plus company vehicle

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our facilities service team. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including chillers, air handlers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and refrigeration systems, while ensuring systems operate efficiently, meet safety and compliance standards, and deliver excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including chillers, air handlers, rooftop units, boilers, and refrigeration systems.
• Service and maintain cooling towers, pump systems, and water treatment equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Install, adjust, and commission HVAC controls and BAS integrations; troubleshoot control system faults and communicate with controls technicians as needed.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals to perform accurate repairs and installations.
• Perform system start-ups, refrigerant charging, recovery and leak detection in compliance with EPA regulations.
• Document service work, system performance, and recommended repairs in the work order system; provide clear reports to supervisors and clients.
• Respond to emergency service calls and participate in on-call rotation as required; prioritize safety and rapid response for critical systems.
• Follow company safety policies and OSHA requirements; maintain clean, organized vehicles and work areas; ensure PPE use and safe handling of refrigerants and fuels.
• Communicate directly with customers to explain issues, propose solutions, provide cost estimates and ensure satisfactory resolution and follow-up.
• Coordinate with project managers, controls specialists and other technicians to support installations, retrofits and system upgrades.

Qualifications:

• EPA Universal Certification.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial HVAC service, including chillers, air handling systems, boilers, refrigeration, and cooling towers.
• Strong ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and controls-related HVAC issues.
• Familiarity with pump systems, cooling tower maintenance, industrial HVAC practices and water-side equipment.
• Proven ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals; basic electrical troubleshooting skills (reading a multimeter, continuity, and voltage measurements).
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to travel to customer sites; must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces and lift up to 50 lbs.
