Description of Job History Colorado's Community Museum Philanthropy Manager assists the Chief Community Museum Director and Deputy Community Museum Director in managing the philanthropic needs of the properties held by History Colorado outside of the History Colorado Center. This role manages the design, implementation, and evaluation of the fundraising strategies for community museum initiatives across the state, with support and collaboration from the Community Museum teams. The position's work base is the Center for Colorado Women's History, in Denver. Work includes but is not limited to the following: Develop, implement, steward, and evaluate fundraising strategies for community museum initiatives across the state with support and collaboration from Community Museum teams. Serve as a liaison between the Community Museum team and the Philanthropy team. Monitor, manage, steward, and evaluate all Community Museum donor relationships and information. Maintain and update Community Museum donor records in the Raiser's Edge database in collaboration with the Database Manager. Actively identify, cultivate, and steward new donor relationships. Monitor and manage the Colorado State Enterprise Zone Tax Credit projects for Community Museums, re‑applying when necessary. Develop, implement, and evaluate Membership sales strategies and promotions for Community Museums to support the HC Membership goals (in collaboration with Community Museum teams and the HC Membership Director). Develop training resources and sessions for the Community Museum's Guest Services staff to equip them to lead their staff and volunteers on membership sales strategies. Collaborate with Directors and Community Museum Front Desk Coordinators to create Membership Budget goals. Actively prospect and apply for grants to support community museum initiatives. Collaborate with the Deputy Community Museums Officer to identify grant‑related priorities and needs. Actively identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with funders and program officers. Communicate and document potential grants and successful grants in compliance with Philanthropy protocols. Monitor and manage grant reports, deadlines, and compliance. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights This announcement is not governed by the selection processes of the classified personnel system. Minimum Requirements (Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills): One (1) year of full‑time professional experience with a primary focus on: Grant management, grant writing, grant administration and oversight, grants fiscal accounting, and/or auditing experience. Statewide fundraising and membership development strategies, implementation, and demonstration of success. OR Substitution: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or college in Non‑Profit Management, Business Administration, Grant Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or another relevant field will count for 1 year of required experience. Preferred Qualifications: A strong background in history, with general knowledge of Colorado history. A background in grant management, grant writing, grant administration and oversight, grants fiscal accounting and/or auditing experience. Statewide fundraising and membership development strategies, implementation, and demonstration of success. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to juggle multiple project schedules. Basic research abilities. An enthusiasm to explore ideas, amplify diverse voices, and help others discover what makes Colorado Colorado. Relevant experience working for the State of Colorado. Competencies: Clear understanding and experience in finance, accounting, or grants. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem‑solve, prioritize, create systems and processes, and collaborate with and engage others. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions. Detail oriented. Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally with diverse communities in all corners of the state. Work well under pressure. Strong relationship management skills and excellent representation of the department in community interactions. A proven track record for developing and maintaining trusted relationships with stakeholders and industry experts. Excellent negotiation and consensus building skills. Proactive approaches to problem‑solving and with strong decision‑making capability. Highly resourceful team‑player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently. Factors to be Evaluated: Technical Competence Technical experience as it relates to the duties outlined in this job announcement. Depth and Breadth of Experience Experience that covers multiple areas outlined in this job announcement. Experience should be varied and not one dimensional and demonstrate a wide range of community involvement. Job Fit Experience will be evaluated to determine how well your past experience aligns with and meets the business needs of this position. Current experience is preferred. Conditions of Employment: Circumstances may require this position to work outside of regular business hours. Must be willing to travel regularly to Community Museum locations in Colorado. Must be available to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule.
