Information Systems SpecialistThe Information Systems Specialist manages and administers the district's student information system and business office system to ensure accuracy and efficiency across all electronic information systems that support school district operations. The role involves collecting, analyzing, preparing, and submitting required state reports, as well as conducting and attending meetings and delivering software demonstrations to support staff in the effective use of these systems.Supervision: Director of TechnologyBenefits: Unified School District 232 offers an excellent benefits package!Required Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent; college degree preferredAt least five years of experience managing a Skyward SMS or Qmlativ SISStrong organizational skills and ability to multitaskAdvanced skills with the Microsoft Office SuitePrefer experience with database management and report writingStrong communication skills both written and oralWillingness to learn new information and conceptsStrong follow-through on tasks and projectsSelf-starter with proven reliability and personal integrityCurrent Certificate of Health on file in the district officeCompletion of clear, criminal background checkPhysical Requirements:Requires prolonged sitting or standingRequires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 20 lbsRequires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reachingMaintain a thorough knowledge of the student data management program for the districtEssential Job Functions:Coordinate all information with departments as appropriate in transition between district and state databasesFacilitate timely and accurate data collection and conduct the district's compliance with reporting related to state/federal reportsInterpret and correct KSDE errors to enable correct transmissions for reportingHave an understanding of FERPA, HIPAA, COPPA, KORA and other State or Federal student privacy or protection lawsEnsure proper coding for funding purposes (i.e. All district ELL students, all district Pre-Kindergarten students, Virtual Education Program, etc.)Participate in local, state, and national SIS user groups and attends conferences and/or classes to stay current on products and developmentsCreate and oversee district-wide Curriculum MasterCreate/edit school level Course MastersAssist with efforts with other division/departments to integrate the SIS with other applications and initiativesDesign and executes specialized queries and reports using, Excel, student information systems, and/or other applications and distributes as requestedCreate, manage, maintain and extract student information data between external vendors and school systems and applications as requestedCoordinate the input of data from outside vendors (pictures, state test scores, First Student, etc.) into the student information system. Import Assessment results into SkywardGenerate and maintain all Skyward user accountsGenerate and maintain all Skyward Security Groups and assign usersTrain school staff in proper use of Skyward and provide on-going supportGather feedback from school sites on the SIS to determine which components could be modified or added from the district to meet school data needsTrain staff in data management protocols and best practices, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of student data stored within the student information systemComplete the development and maintenance of necessary support and training materials for the districtDevelop Custom Forms for various department uses and provide district and school personnel with updated lists, statistics, etc. as related to data collected from formsManage/maintain Online Enrollment process and formsMonitor the integrity of student dataRun processes for student schedulingMass assign fees to student recordsRun year-end processesSupport deployment of SIS enhancements to schools (product upgrades, security changes, file definition and table changes)Maintain knowledge of current upgrades and ensure proper import of tables/updates via K12itc in SkywardRepresent the District as the specialist for the Student Information System (SIS) and other information systems as assigned, including attending trainings, webinars and communications with other school districts, District departments, and stakeholdersProvide support to users of vendor information systems; ie: Skyward, answering questions and providing feedback on best practicesOther duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Unified School District No. 232
