Job Title & Summary Job Title: Webmaster Coordinator – Software Development Specialist 1 Department: Communications & Marketing Location: Priscilla Gardner Main Library Reports To: Communications & Marketing Supervisor Employment Type: Full‑Time Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000 per year Workweek: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (35 hrs/week); may require evenings and weekends Application Deadline: June 12, 2026 About the Position The JCFPL is seeking a collaborative, dynamic individual to coordinate and execute efforts to produce and maintain an up‑to‑date and useful website for the Library system. The Webmaster will work closely with other members of the Communications & Marketing Department, Information Technology Department, and library staff systemwide. Responsibilities Manage, create, and edit CMS for content updates to and associated websites. Perform ongoing back‑end maintenance and front‑end optimizations for page speed and content delivery. Implement Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager; integrate into Google Data Studio for visualization. Establish SEO reporting structure; recommend and execute ongoing SEO updates. Ensure ADA compliance and best practices for accessibility. Innovate website functions with a mobile‑first mindset; use analytics and user behavior tools to provide feedback and recommendations for UX/UI improvements. Provide feedback and recommendations for creative assets for UX/UI best practices. Deliver monthly reports for SEO, web analytics, heatmapping, and/or behavioral analytics, depending on Library needs. Author and test code for website components based on specifications. Monitor website stability including uptime, page speed, links, images, and ensure all UX is functioning to specifications. Develop and maintain work documentation and logs. Work closely with Communications & Marketing and other staff to determine information needs and identify appropriate methods of distributing information on the web. Support Communications & Marketing staff in developing, producing, and improving visual assets for the Library’s website(s). Coordinate web design and redesign projects with staff and outside vendors to meet changing community needs. Core Competencies Understands and practices basic front‑end web design principles. Works well with WordPress or another major CMS (Drupal, Joomla, Sitefinity, Sitecore, AEM, etc.). Has experience or working knowledge of front‑end languages (CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP). Works confidently with UX/UI design principles and uses Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. Is passionate about UX/UI innovation. Takes a proactive approach to SEO. Has experience with AWS or another major web hosting service. Has experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Data Studio. Understands front‑end integrations such as REST APIs. Conducts research, analyzes data, and prepares accurate reports. Prioritizes, schedules, and performs complex tasks on time and per specifications. Communicates clearly, respectfully, and candidly across all platforms. Possesses strong command of written English. Can work flexible hours as needed to support events and programs. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Approaches challenges positively and with curiosity; exhibits constructive problem‑solving. Sets measurable goals and works collaboratively to achieve Library priorities. Makes complex decisions independently and seeks necessary input. Interested in building improved processes to sustain achievements. Active in learning new skills and exceeding expectations. Shares expertise and provides developmental feedback to peers. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, OneDrive). Can read, analyze, and interpret written information such as procedure manuals. Required Experience Five (5) years of professional experience in programming, systems programming, or computer analysis —or— Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of the above experience. Preferred Skills Knowledge of Jersey City’s population, geography, and/or local government. Experience and familiarity with public libraries. Facility in a non‑English language spoken in Jersey City (e.g., Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Tagalog, etc.).
