Physician Assistant - Cardiology Electrophysiology

Job Title

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provides patient support and education during outpatient clinic visits and procedures and treatments.
• Demonstrates appropriate telephone courtesy by identifying themselves and their service or workstation when answering the phones and responding to the callers in a polite and courteous manner. If unable to satisfy the caller's needs, takes message including the caller's name and phone number and forward message to the appropriate individual in a timely manner.
• Obtains a relevant health and medical history. Performs appropriate cardiology-focused physical examination based on age and history.
• Assesses urgency of patient care needs based on sound clinical principals during face-to face encounters, video (telemedicine) encounters and telephone triage.
• Assumes accountability for coordination of patient care in Cardiology as well as telephone care needs during clinic administrative hours.
• Triages Cardiology consultation requests and follows up to track timely scheduling and completion of Cardiology consultation appointments.
• Plans, evaluates, and implements care for the needs of patients with acute and/or chronic Cardiovascular disease in the ambulatory care and inpatient setting.
• Performs and reports consultations for potential Cardiology related problems. Mid-level providers who function, as consultants (i.e., respond to submitted consultation) must have their consults co-signed by an attending physician. This does not apply to the submission of consultations or day-to-day writing of outpatient notes.
• The Physician Assistant (PA) in Cardiology Electrophysiology will be directly responsible to the Heart Rhythm Service Medical Director, Cardiology Section Chief, and Specialty Medicine Service Line Chief. During assignment to the outpatient or inpatient units, any of the credentialed physicians in the above stated service line will act as alternative collaborating physicians.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. Alternative work hours, if desired, should be agreed upon at the time of hire.
