Travel Respiratory Therapist

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift acute care assignment covering adult, pediatric, and Level III NICU patients.

Acute care inpatient setting across adult, pediatric, and Level III NICU floors.

RTs covering pediatric floors will also cover adults, while RTs covering adult floors will not cover peds.

Handles approximately 36-42 treatments per 12-hour shift or 12-14 every 4 hours.

Manages RT equipment, treatments, transport, and ABGs; does not perform EKGs.

Travelers will only assist with intubation, not perform independently.

Utilizes Draeger vents for adults and Servo U vents for peds.

Additional equipment includes V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow, Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP, HillRom Vest machines, and Hill-Rom Metaneb.

EPIC EMR used.

Night shift, 7p-7a schedule.

Every other weekend required.

May float to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center.

No call or standby call requirements.

Team typically includes 15-20 RTs on days and 10-12 on nights with a Lead Therapist on each shift.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience required if RRT, or 3-5 years if CRT.

RRT preferred, CRT accepted with sufficient experience.

Active BLS required for all patient populations.

ACLS required for adult patients.

PALS required for pediatric patients.

NRP required for NICU coverage.

NAVA (naturally adjusted ventilatory assist) experience on Servo vents required for NICU assignments.

License required if applicable.

EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Driver's license required for consideration.

Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire.

First-time travelers will be considered.

Hospitalist and intensivist coverage available in-house 24/7.

Lead Therapist on each shift covers the ED, manages daily staffing, and serves as a resource; Manager and Supervisor also available during the day.

Unit/department specific orientation typically consists of 2-3 shifts depending on coverage areas (adult, peds, NICU, adult ICU).

Any scrub color accepted as long as clean and professional.

Required to work if scheduled during a holiday.

Scheduler creates the schedule; blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests are not accommodated.

Overtime may be available.

Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible.

Permanent employees must be separated from employment for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment.
