Senior Engineer, Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

What You’ll Do Analyze, create, and implement manufacturing and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead‑time, improve work‑in‑process and enhance quality, cost and delivery performance for Abbott. Complete capacity analysis internally and at suppliers for headcount, equipment and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools. Identify opportunities and incorporate appropriate Lean tools (5S, time study, line balancing, standard work, material flow and value stream mapping, process mapping, Kaizen events) into continuous improvement activities. Implement and maintain effective metrics with internal customers. Participate as a core member of cross‑functional teams to quickly troubleshoot and eliminate product supply issues internally or at suppliers. Make recommendations to teams to drive higher yielding, lower cost, more manufacturable products; may use financial analysis tools and recommend alternative courses of action. Convince internal customers to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes. Required Education and Experience You’ll Bring Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field. Masters degree preferred. OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum 6 years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area. Technical/business knowledge—wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures. Strong understanding of business unit function and cross‑group dependencies/relationships. Cognitive skills—works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Has a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impact. Project management experience. Black Belt/Six Sigma certification. PMP certification.
