Healthcare Professional Placements (HP2)is seeking a dedicated and compassionate  Special Education Teacher with Exceptional Children (EC) certification to support students with diverse learning, developmental, behavioral, and educational needs.

The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitor student progress, and collaborate with families, general education teachers, administrators, and related-service professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students identified as Exceptional Children (EC) in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Develop, implement, review, and update IEPs based on student needs, assessment results, educational goals, and applicable requirements.
• Deliver differentiated and specially designed instruction based on each student's learning abilities and educational needs.
• Provide instruction in individual, small-group, inclusion, resource, or specialized classroom settings as assigned.
• Establish measurable academic, behavioral, social, and functional goals for students.
• Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
• Modify curriculum, instructional materials, assignments, assessments, and classroom activities when appropriate to meet individual student needs.
• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement.
• Maintain an organized, structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Develop and implement appropriate classroom and behavioral management strategies.
• Support students with behavioral, emotional, developmental, intellectual, physical, or learning challenges.
• Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, reevaluations, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support students receiving services in inclusive classroom environments.
• Coordinate with school psychologists, counselors, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, behavioral specialists, and other related-service professionals as appropriate.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and educational goals.
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with school, district, state, and federal requirements.
• Protect student confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements.
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and required training.
• Perform additional educational responsibilities consistent with the Special Education Teacher role.

IEP & Compliance Responsibilities

The Special Education Teacher will play an important role in ensuring appropriate delivery and documentation of special education services.

Responsibilities may include:

• Developing legally compliant and educationally appropriate IEPs.
• Maintaining required documentation and service records.
• Collecting and analyzing data related to IEP goals.
• Preparing progress reports according to established reporting periods.
• Ensuring accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional services identified in the IEP are implemented.
• Participating in annual reviews, reevaluations, eligibility determinations, and transition planning when applicable.
• Collaborating with the IEP team to determine appropriate educational goals, services, accommodations, and supports.
• Maintaining compliance with the  Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)and applicable state and local special education requirements.
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in  Special Education, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Current or eligible  Exceptional Children (EC) teaching license/certification for the state of assignment.
• Appropriate Special Education teaching credentials for the student population and grade level being served.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and documentation.
• Understanding of special education regulations and IDEA requirements.
• Ability to provide differentiated and specially designed instruction.
• Strong classroom and behavioral management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, administrators, and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student records.
• Successful completion of all required employment, background, credentialing, and school-system screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Special Education or Exceptional Children teaching experience.
• Experience developing and managing IEPs.
• Experience working in public, charter, private, or specialized educational settings.
• Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, emotional/behavioral disabilities, or other exceptional needs.
• Experience with inclusion, resource, self-contained, or adaptive curriculum classrooms.
• Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
• Crisis prevention, behavioral intervention, or de-escalation training.
• Experience collaborating with related-service professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
