Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN)The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced life support. The ICU RN utilizes advanced clinical judgment, technical skills, and interdisciplinary collaboration to stabilize patients, manage complex therapies, and support patients and families during critical illness.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive and ongoing assessments of critically ill patients, including neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, and hemodynamic statusContinuously monitor cardiac rhythms, ventilator settings, oxygenation, and invasive linesAdminister and titrate IV medications such as vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, insulin, and antiarrhythmics per protocol and provider ordersManage and maintain central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, drains, and advanced airway devicesProvide ventilator management and collaborate with respiratory therapyRecognize and respond to acute changes in patient condition and initiate emergency interventions (e.g., code response, rapid stabilization)Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of careAccurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR)Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and other interdisciplinary team membersProvide patient and family education and emotional support during critical illness and end-of-life careProfessional Requirements:Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.Excellent attendance record.Wears appropriate clothing for job functions.Wears ID badge.Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.HIPAA compliantRegulatory Requirements:Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practiceGraduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification requiredPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification requiredNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
