We are also improving our processes around ingesting and handling member data with focus on security, observability and traceability.We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer who is passionate about creating exceptional user experiences using Golang, gRPC based micro-services. As a member of the Accounts team, you will help build and shape new improved experiences with impact across the whole company. A resilient and scalable Accounts system ensures both stability and helps with growth of our member base. This role has a strong focus on user identity and account management — registration, authentication, authorization, and identity provider integrations — so hands-on experience with identity management platforms (e.g., Auth0, Okta) and IAM concepts (SSO, OIDC, SAML, MFA/passwordless auth) is highly valued. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to build scalable, performant, and accessible applications.This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact product in its early stages. The ideal candidate thrives in cross-functional collaboration, is comfortable with ambiguity, and cares deeply about product quality and user experience.Backend engineers at Hinge Health contribute to their team’s success by architecting and implementing end-to-end solutions, well-tested performant APIs and data models. In addition, candidates will profile their systems to stay out ahead of scaling bottlenecks, and help maintain a high bar with thoughtful and constructive code reviews.We enjoy a continuous deployment DevOps culture, and take owner-operator pride in supporting our code in production. Our production systems rely on Golang, gRPC, AWS, Postgres, Redis, and temporal. Our workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA.What You’ll AccomplishDeliver large projects that introduce new product capabilities, often acting as a maintainer for key code repositories.Break down complex problems into manageable tasks, ensuring steady and predictable delivery while identifying and resolving root causes of incidents.Collaborate with your team to roadmap and execute ambitious technical strategies, balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.Mentor and support junior engineers, providing thoughtful code reviews and real-time pairing.Integrate and leverage AI technologies to automate processes and enhance product features, contributing to Hinge Health’s AI-driven care platform.Proactively improve the maintainability, availability, and performance of the team’s features, and contribute to the team’s overall architecture and developer tooling.Communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical partners, and document solutions for future reference.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical fieldAt minimum, 3+ years of non-internship full time professional software development experience2+ years of experience with at least one software programming language2+ years of experience in the full software development life cycleExperience delivering large software projects or features in a production environmentProficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Golang, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)Preferred QualificationsExperience with AI technologies for software design and coding assistanceExperience mentoring or onboarding junior engineersFamiliarity with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or scalable architecturesExperience with healthcare technology or regulated environmentsExperience with Agile development practicesExperience with data ingestion, integration and security Good understanding and practical knowledge in cloud based services (e.g. gRPC, protobufs, temporal, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud services such as AWS, etc.)Hinge Health Hybrid ModelWe believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds.
