Position Summary

This position provides occupational therapy services to a pediatric population, neonatal to adolescent, including evaluation and treatment in independent living, sensory-motor integration, cognitive, and psychosocial skill. This role performs evaluations, formulates plans of care, and provides treatment, specific to age and developmental/functional level determined by assessment. The position addresses routine problems in the work environment by helping or referring other, more experienced team members and or leaders. This role manages a daily workload, identifies routine issues in the work area, and solves problems with guidance from other professionals, as needed.

Position Duties

• Professional Occupational Therapy Services
  
  
  a. Evaluates and treats patients with occupational performance disorders/delays, demonstrating knowledge of normal development and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate services in areas of self-care and play skills involving motor, sensory-integrative, cognitive, and psychosocial functions.
  b. Provides care as outlined in standards of care section of the Policies & Procedures Manual. Uses pediatric-based behavior management strategies and matches diagnostic/therapeutic interventions to age and disability of children.
  c. Establishes appropriate treatment plans with age-appropriate goals and target timeframes, which are discussed with family and mutually agreed upon.
  d. Organizes, develops, implements, and coordinates occupational performance of patient care with other disciplines within the hospital and resources within the community, including discharge planning via charting, letters of medical necessity, care conferences, and rounds. This includes patient/family teaching for appropriate function within the home and creation/implementation of home programs.
  e. Maintains appropriate and timely documentation in compliance with department, regulatory/accreditation standards, and state/federal guidelines.
  f. Maintains productivity standards for clinical level and appropriate and timely documentation in compliance with department policies, regulatory/accreditation standards, and state/federal guidelines
  
  
• Builds and maintains rapport within the department, hospital, and community, professionally interacting with physicians, families, and hospital/community personnel. This includes participation in in-service training programs on regular basis.

• Supervises and directs rehab technicians, therapist assistants and/or students, providing feedback on performance.

• Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
