Absolute Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center specializing in pain management and orthopedic procedures. We are committed to providing safe, compassionate, high-quality care in a collaborative surgical environment. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as an Operating Room Circulator. The OR Circulator is responsible for coordinating and providing safe, efficient intraoperative nursing care while supporting the surgeon, anesthesia provider, scrub staff, and overall surgical team. The Operating Room Circulator RN is responsible for patient care throughout the intraoperative phase, beginning with handoff from pre-op and continuing through safe transfer to PACU. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.

Job Duties

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using specialized nursing knowledge and sound clinical judgment.
• Review the surgical schedule, preference cards, supplies, equipment, implants, and special needs prior to procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the operating room for pain management and orthopedic procedures.
• Verify patient identity, procedure, surgical site, consent, allergies, documentation, and required pre-operative information.
• Coordinate and participate in surgical time-outs and patient safety checks.
• Assist with proper patient positioning, skin preparation, and prevention of injury.
• Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the surgical experience.
• Monitor and support sterile technique and the integrity of the sterile field.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and scrub personnel.
• Ensure needed supplies, equipment, medications, and instruments are available and used appropriately.
• Perform and document surgical counts according to facility policy.
• Accurately and timely document intraoperative care, including procedure times, positioning, counts, medications, implants, specimens, and other required elements.
• Communicate effectively with Pre-Op, PACU, anesthesia, surgeons, and leadership regarding patient status and procedural needs.
• Provide thorough handoff communication to PACU staff.
• Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations.
• Assist with room turnover, stocking, equipment checks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Support infection control, OSHA, fire safety, quality improvement, and other facility initiatives.
• Participate in mandatory staff meetings, drills, QA activities, and educational programs.
• Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Nurse, DON, or Administrator.

• Current RN license in the state of Texas.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum of 1 year of OR nursing experience required.
• Ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
• Experience with pain management and/or orthopedic procedures strongly preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS required.
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing standards and patient safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prioritize quickly and remain calm during stressful situations.
