About the Position

Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: L&D Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification Must-Have: At least 2 years of labor experience Description: This position is for a Labor and Delivery Nurse specializing in maternal infant care. The unit has 24 beds with a staff of 71 dedicated professionals. The nursing staff includes labor nurses, nursery nurses, obstetric technicians, secretaries, leadership, and educators. Patient ratios in labor are typically 1:1. For postpartum care, the ratio is approximately 5-6 patients per nurse. In the nursery, the ratio is also 5-6 patients per nurse. The unit utilizes GE fetal monitors and the Meditech electronic medical record system. Preferred experience includes 2+ years of labor experience in an LDRP setting with high birth volumes. Typical procedures performed include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and care for both newborns and postpartum patients. The dress code is navy blue scrubs, and nurses have specific badges for infant security. Weekend commitments include every third weekend, with 12 hours of call per a 4-week schedule.
