Supervising Attorney

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Supervising/Lead Attorney (on a Hybrid basis) who will be responsible for managing a personal caseload while providing day‑to‑day guidance and oversight to a team of attorneys and legal staff. This role focuses on ensuring high‑quality legal work, supporting efficient case handling, and maintaining compliance with firm and client expectations. The Supervising Attorney collaborates across departments, assists with resolving escalated issues, and contributes to process improvements, while relying on senior leadership for broader strategic direction. Key Responsibilities Manage a high-volume caseload of litigation matters across all phases, including pleadings, discovery, pre‑trial, and trial Serve as counsel in hearings, mediations, and depositions as needed Apply established litigation strategies and elevate complex or high‑risk matters to senior leadership as appropriate Draft and argue motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment Research, Drafting & Discovery Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, memoranda, discovery responses, and motions Oversee discovery processes, including depositions, subpoenas, and resolving routine discovery issues Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, mediations, and trial testimony Client Communication & Escalation Support Provide clear, strategic legal counsel to clients regarding case status, exposure, and litigation options Respond promptly and professionally to client and investor escalations and inquiries Participate in audits and respond to client due diligence questionnaires as required Compliance & Advisory Provide legal analysis and support across practice areas, including: Title curative, foreclosure, collections, replevin, bankruptcy, and evictions State and federal regulatory compliance (RESPA, TILA, FDCPA, UDAAP, CFPB, SCRA) Corporate governance, vendor and client contracts, data privacy, and borrower communications Assist in implementing updates to policies, procedures, and templates based on regulatory changes Respond to subpoenas, discovery, and regulatory/government inquiries Internal Collaboration & Leadership Review work product from junior attorneys and staff for accuracy and completeness Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to attorneys and legal support staff Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment and efficient case handling Ensure deadlines are met and documentation is maintained in case management systems Process Improvement & Professional Development Contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal processes and litigation workflows Remain current on changes in local, state, and federal laws, court rules, and industry trends that impact the firm’s practice areas Leadership & Management Supervise/mentor and support a team of attorneys and legal staff in their day‑to‑day work Provide coaching, feedback, and development support to team members Assist in monitoring team performance and productivity Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages professional growth and development Legal Oversight Monitor case progress within the team to ensure compliance with firm standards and deadlines Serve as a resource for routine case questions and issue‑spotting Escalate complex or high‑risk matters to senior leadership Client Relationship Management Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and responsiveness Participate in client meetings or discussions as needed Support resolution of client concerns with guidance from leadership Operational Support Follow established processes and contribute to maintaining efficient workflows Assist in tracking performance metrics and meeting team goals Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar license in good standing in at least one relevant jurisdiction 4–7+ years of litigation or comparable legal experience, with ability to independently manage cases through multiple stages Experience in relevant practice areas (e.g., foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, collections) preferred Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including motion practice and knowledge of civil procedure and applicable regulations Demonstrated ability to manage a high‑volume caseload while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail Experience mentoring or supporting junior attorneys or staff, with the ability to review work and provide guidance Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client‑focused and collaborative approach Sound judgment with the ability to identify risks and appropriately elevate complex issues Proficiency with case management systems and legal technology Ghidotti | Berger LLP is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
