Role Overview Position: Telephone Triage Nurse (General Surgery Department) Work Shift: 8‑hour day shifts. Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Compensation: Salary range $29.50–$44.50 per hour; $15,000 sign‑on bonus. Responsibilities Answer patient inquiries over the telephone and assess symptom severity using triage algorithms. Guide patients to the appropriate level of care and schedule appointments with relevant providers. Document patient information in health record systems and maintain up‑to‑date records. Develop and update triage protocols, ensuring timely updates of patient healthcare information. Respond to patient questions and concerns, and provide education based on incoming calls. Assist with minor procedures and care coordination within the general surgery department. Perform duties via various departmental technologies. Within the first 30 days, complete all licensing and competency requirements for the role. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program (AACN, ACEN, NLN CNEA). Preferably holds a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. Minimum one year of healthcare experience preferred. Current RN license in the state where practice occurs, or NLC licensure where applicable; telephone nursing requires licensure in patients’ residing states.
