Responsibilities Operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and physics of MRI. Select appropriate imaging techniques and protocols to complete exams. Receive patients, explain the method of examination, position the patient, perform IV puncture, and administer IV contrast agent when indicated. Independently perform and complete routine examinations. Meet the needs of patients, families, and multi-disciplinary team through effective communication, coordination, and documentation, ensuring safety, care, courtesy, and efficiency. Additional Responsibilities See and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring rapid, accurate verbal communication, especially during emergencies. Use manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation. Lift and use full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, carry supplies and equipment, including varying weights up to and including heavy items. Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and distributing supplies, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment through crowded rooms. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Shift & Location Full‑time (36 hours), Monday through Thursday, 4 pm – 2:30 am. Unit/Location: St. Vincent Hospital, Billings, Montana. Salary Range $38.77 – $59.82 per hour, depending on experience. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school (required). Current active ARRT registry (required). Current Basic Life Support certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (required). Preferred Qualifications At least one year of experience as an MRI Technologist (preferred). Specialty Technologist in Training – Minimum Qualifications Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers (required). Applicable State License (required). Currently attending and receiving formal training from an accredited training program, or successful completion of formal training from an approved/accredited school, or a licensed ARRT® technologist selected to cross‑train in another modality (required). Specialty Technologist in Training – Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of customer service or patient care experience. IV Certification. MRI Tech II – Minimum Qualifications ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification. Basic Life Support certification (BLS). IV Certification. Proficiency in 3 of the following: intra‑operative, cardiac, functional, breast, prostate, rectal cancer staging, advanced 3D spectroscopy, MR lymphangiography, or pediatric MRI (less than 15 years) if 80% of patient workload. Must complete at least five cases per specialty procedure with documented skills pass off by a lead MRI technologist or coordinator. MRI Tech II – Preferred Qualifications Three years of experience in MRI. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
