The position is located in the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, NJ. Posting Summary Full‑Time Mental Health Staff Nurse within UCHC. This role focuses on ambulatory care for inmates, working within the New Jersey Department of Corrections framework. Duties and Responsibilities Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological and emotional needs of inmates and their families. Performs assessments in various settings (initial intake, sick call unit, emergency housing, chronic care clinics, infirmary). Collaborates with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Identifies inmate‑centered goals and nursing objectives; implements interventions and solutions. Plans nursing care based on assessment of resident needs. Initiates appropriate referrals, delegates duties as team leader or charge nurse, and guides care delivery by other team members. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in New Jersey. Minimum of one year of psychiatric nursing experience. Current CPR certification. Valid driver’s license. Computer literacy. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
