Job Summary:
A Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN) locates in Springfield, Illinois, provides specialized care to adult and geriatric patients on a 23-bed unit. This position involves night shifts, requiring candidates to bring their license on the first day. The role encompasses managing neurological and traumatic injuries, performing IV insertions, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts per week with a start time at 6:45 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Illinois licensed registered nurse; minimum 1 year of experience in Med Surg; certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; AHA and Red Cross certifications onlyRQI cards are not accepted.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA), Spinal cord injury, Starting and maintaining IVs, PICC line management, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
• Additional Information: Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; previous charge experience is preferred; Cerner electronic medical records experience is preferred.
• Location: Springfield, Illinois.
• Unit Details: 23-bed Medical Surgical Unit with adult and geriatric patients, managing neurovascular conditions, post-surgical care, and trauma cases.
• Facility Highlights: Acute care hospital, Level I trauma center, designated as a Magnet hospital with 562 staffed beds.
• Special Procedures: EEG, lumbar puncture.
• Open to: Accommodating block schedule; float as needed within scope; no on-call required.
