Specimen Technician

Job OverviewPay Range: $15.19hr - $20.19hrRequirement/Must HaveHigh School diploma or equivalent.Basic understanding of computers.Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.Ability to work weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime as required.Strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment.Ability to adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.Adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.ResponsibilitiesPerform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station, presort, and imaging.Pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory.Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens.Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner.Learn and understand specimen types related to tests ordered.Maintain compliance regulations related to test ordering.Work in a biohazard environment practicing established safety habits.Keep work area neat and clean.Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.Nice To HavePreferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.Previous laboratory experience preferred.Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.Previous hospital laboratory experience.Previous experience in a production environment.SkillsData Entry.Alphanumeric Typing.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Aliquoting.Medical Terminology.Laboratory Safety.Qualification And EducationHigh School Diploma.Due to nature of job The candidate must have Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
